When someone you love
becomes a memory, that memory
becomes a treasure.

Time cannot steal the memories
That we carry in our hearts,
Or ever dim the wonderful thoughts
Our cherished past imparts.

So memories of the one we loved
Still cast their gentle glow,
To grace our days and light our path
Wherever we may go.

The following verse is used with permission
It was written for Karen's Grandmother,
But it so moved me that I asked to use it here
in my tribute to my Mom...

 Angel Wings

I always thought that you'd be here.
To take away my every fear.
So, I went through life wrapped up in me.
Not knowing what would come to be.

Then came the day to say good bye.
My heart broken would only cry.
I cried for the memories I should have made.
As I watched the light in your eyes fade.

The chance to learn from an angel had gone away.
No more prayers would she have to say.
She had lived her life and done her part.
Now she had to go home, from this world she would depart.

People walk in and out of our lives each day.
The ones that touch us are there to stay.
Kept in our hearts and in our minds.
No greater person, I'll ever find.

I met an angel on my walk through life.
She had loving eyes, and gentle smile.
I did not know it for such a long while.

Now I know that her wings touched me.
Now I know and truly believe.
Angels enter our lives, and keep us safe from harm.
Sheltered within their loving arms.

Now I cry, but not for pain.
I rejoice that this angel is home again.

I want to share another poem that touched my heart...

Lighting Your Way

If I was one thing, I'd be a candle
Lighting the way so you can handle
Your life easier without woes
Not having to fight with your foes.

I'd help keep you from stumbling over
Things blocking your path to an open door.
If I light your path, life is easier,
Even strong winds, my light will not deter.

No matter what, I'm here for you
To cheer you up when you are blue.
Do not fret when times get tough,
If things look down or kind of rough.

Just remember, I'm always here,
In your heart, close and near.
I will help you out in every way,
Happiness and love in your heart will stay.

Don't blow me out, that's one request
Unless it's me you do detest.
I do not try to hurt anyone
That isn't good or any fun.

But one day you may leave me behind
You may no longer need my light to shine.
If that day comes, go on your way
And I will hope to see you again one day.

If one day, I don't appear,
Do not worry, do not fear
I may be gone, but in your heart
The light I gave you did not depart.

It will be there forever and a day
To always bring happiness and light your way.
Farewell for now, I'm needed elsewhere
If your path grows dark, in your heart, I'm there.

So I'm really not gone, just not seen,
I would not leave, I'm not that mean.
Only one simple request that I must say,
Please, never forget those who lit your way.

From the author: There are special people that we
meet in life who seem to make life's journey a little
easier. Those people are like a candle that shows
the obstacles in your way so that Life is easier to
deal with.

Look For Me Under A Star

When you wonder where I am
when I leave this world behind,
look into your own existence,
I'm in your heart and in your mind

Look for me on sunny days
or over rainbows after showers.
Look for me in lovely music
that we'd listen to for hours.

Look for me under a star,
the first one out at night.
I'll be twinkling just for you.
I'll be kissing you good night.

So, when the sun goes down each day,
I'll come out and light your night.
Look for me under a star.
I'll be shining very bright...

Just for you, for all your days,
to guide you always from afar.
Just look for me in all you do
and look for me under a star.
